This short story is a quick, easy read with two of my favorite fictional folks, Chet and Bernie. As the title references, Iggy also gets more page time than usual, though I'm not sure if he would consider that a plus or a minus. I highly recommend this entertaining tale to anyone who enjoys the antics of these neighbors.I'd just like to warn other readers that Iggy's tale only takes up about 75% of the pages. The rest of it is a sneak preview of The Sound and The Furry. Since I had just finished reading The Sound and The Furry, I was quite disappointed when Iggy's story ended and the preview began. I had expected Iggy's story to be longer. It's still a good read, and the story is nicely tied up in the allotted space; and, if you haven't read The Sound and The Furry yet, I'm sure you'll enjoy the preview. I think that I would have been less disappointed, though, had I known at the outset that the preview took up 25% of the book, so I wanted to make other readers aware of that up front.

Spencer Quinn has been great to put out another short ebook while a reader waits for his Chet & Bernie novel to come out in September. This like the last ebook, A Cat Was Involved, ties in some story lines that relates to characters you meet in his novels. I say, HEAR Chet tell a story because that is how these books read. I can hear Chet telling me how his next door doggy buddy went missing.. I've seen other reviewers say Mr. Quinn speaks "dog" more realistic than one would ever believe and that is so true. I would recommend this short peek into what Chet & Bernie have been up to while waiting for the book that tells us what their next adventure is. Mr. Quinn never lets his readers down - novel or ebook.
Another sort of prequel to the Chet & Bernie series, this is the story of Iggy, the dog next door. Iggy is Chet’s bud, but they don’t see much of each other.
While this wasn’t as intriguing as A Cat Was Involved, another series prequel, Quinn still has a way with a story and this dog’s irrepressible take on life.
Read this if you’re a series fan. If you haven’t read any of the books yet, start with A Cat Was Involved and then move on to Dog Gone It. 4 stars-
This pet lover and successful author has deftly climbed into his clever Chet dog. We go from Chet's viewpoint to a narrator's viewpoint smoothly. I think Chet is actually smarter than I am while remaining true to his dog roots. His baffled moments trying to make sense of the various (American Slang), "sayings," I find to be hilarious! The plot is tightly constructed, and well thought out. Making it easy to follow along. With the humorous moments with Chet detecting, puzzlement with the human race, and all the while loving his, "Bernie." The relationship between Iggy and Chet is pure joy. I think my heart grew one size larger. It said, "Volume 1," so I am assuming there will be a, "Volume 2." I can't wait. In the meanwhile, I will start reading Spencer Quinns', "The Sound and Furry."
What a great little book!!! I love the Bernie and Chet Series!! This one was sweet because it involves the neighbors and their dog Izzy!!! Very short but LOVE how Chet tells the story!!! This series is wonderful. I just bought Spencer’s newest book and expect to love it. Have not been disappointed yet with Spencer Quinn!!!
I have every Chet and Bernie book that's been published to date. To call me a Chet and Bernie fan would be an understatement. Spencer Quinn has made Chet and Bernie into a very enjoyable read for me without exception. The characters are so well defined, it seems like you are right there observing the story develop as if you're watching a movie. And getting the story related from "Chet the jet's" narration is just icing on the cake. Each tidbit of information that involves the interaction/relationship between Chet, Bernie and those around them, whether friend or foe, just adds to the feeling that you really know the characters and want to learn even more. Just got the latest book in the series and already anxious for the release of more in this well written series. I hope Mr. Quinn keeps us entertained with Chet and Bernie adventures for years to come!
This exciting and comedic series has it all wit, humor, mystery,and guess what else?
The narrator is a dog! Chet the dog, and Bernie, the detective, solve crimes and send the perps, as Chet says, off to " breaking rocks in t h e hot sun". What a team!
The backstories for both of them reveal two brave and kind hearted friends with a reputation for crime solving like none other. You'll love every adventure! Bravo for Chet the Jet!
Chet's next door neighbor and good buddy Iggy has gone missing, but with PI Bernie Little (Chet's beloved human partner) on the case, Chet knows Iggy won't be `in the wind' for long. Throw in a little mystery about some missing jewelry and you have the makings of a cute little Chet and Bernie escapade.
I needed a lift this morning and this short story (about 50 pages) did the trick. I'm always touched by Chet's utter devotion to Bernie and charmed by his astute canine observations. It reminds me of that old saying "I'd like to be half the person my dog thinks I am". Bernie's one lucky guy! Spending a little time in Chet and Bernie's company never fails to provide a few smiles and leave me feeling there's not much in life that can't be made just a little bit better with some unconditional canine love and companionship.
If you're new to Chet and Bernie then you'll probably want to start with book one,Dog on It A Chet and Bernie Mystery (Chet and Bernie Mysteries) . I think this short story could be enjoyed on its own, but will be far more entertaining to those already familiar with the series.
